Don’t let the word “portable” in the name fool you. Although this grill is about 75% the size of a standard grill, it heats up and cooks just as nicely (if not better) as most full-size models. The grill’s portable size is an added bonus, since it enables you to bring this grill along for tailgating at the big game or on a camping trip. The grill uses a small 14.1 ounce or 16.4 ounce propane cylinder, although you can hook up a full size propane tank if you buy an additional attachment.
If you are new to grilling, there is no need to worry since Weber has you covered. Included with this purchase is Weber’s recipe booklet which will give you lots of tips, tricks, and recipes to try on your new grill.
Design
The Weber Q 100 is constructed of a glass-reinforced nylon frame and it has a cast-aluminum lid and body. The grill’s portable design means that it does not come on a stand or cart, so you will need to put this on a table or be comfortable working with it on the ground (Weber does sell a number of cart accessories).
The inside of the grill features a porcelain-enameled, cast iron cooking grate which gives you 189 square inches of cooking space. The grate sits over the single ring-shaped stainless steel burner. The burner is heavy and designed to last for years.
Lighting the grill is a breeze with the push button ignition located on the front left of the grill. Once the burner is lit, you have ultimate control over the heat with the adjustable burner valve. Simply turn the knob located on the side of the grill to heat things up or cool things down.
Cleaning up this grill is very simple. The heavy cast-iron grate cleans nicely with a grill brush, and the drip pan at the bottom is removable so you can empty it as needed.
This grill features a black, gray, and taupe color scheme and its sleek design will have you proud to put it on display for friends and family.
Assembly
When you purchase this grill you won’t need to worry about a long or difficult assembly, as it is very easy. The Q 100 will come mostly assembled but you will need to attach the handle and control knob, and put the cooking grate in place. You will also need to hook up the propane tank, which is not included.
